Comedian Kate Quigley has hit out at ex-boyfriend Darius Rucker, after the musician commented on her nearly-fatal overdose which also saw three of her friends killed.

Rucker on Friday gave an update regarding Quigley’s health, but made clear that he had no affiliation with his ex-girlfriend’s accidental overdose on September 4 when Quigley took fentanyl-laced cocaine at a home near Venice Beach.

Fellow comedians Fuquan Johnson, 42 and Enrico Colangeli, 48, along with friend Natalie Williamson, 33, all died as a result of taking the drugs.

‘You know, she’s doing great. She’s coming out of that,’ Rucker told People before his performance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on Friday.

‘I’m glad that she’s doing that.’ He later added that his ‘heart goes out to all the other victims, but Quigley is doing okay.’

Quigley, 39, and Rucker, 55, dated back in 2020.

However, Quigley snapped back over the weekend, saying that Rucker had never called to check up on her since the incident.

The comedian took to Twitter to express her discontent: ‘Hi Darius, Could u plz refrain from making public comments about my health or well-being since u haven’t called once to see how i’m doing & have no clue? Thanks Boo Boo!!!’ she wrote, while also sharing a link to Rucker’s comments.

On September 11, Quigley said it ‘stung’ her when the rock singer’s representatives confirmed to news outlets that they were not dating with a short statement after her September 4 overdose.

‘That Stung. Won’t lie. When i saw the TMZ report i thought, great. He’s probably writing a song about me called, ”Let Her Die,”’ referencing one of Hootie and the Blowfish’s biggest hits.

Quigley was seen out in Los Angeles for the first time on September 15th since the night of the overdose, which left her hospitalized and killed three of her friends at a house party.

The 39-year-old, wearing a face mask, David Bowie T-shirt and short denim cutoffs, was spotted parking her convertible at a Floyd’s 99 barbershop near Venice Beach on Tuesday.

Quigley reportedly spent just five minutes chatting inside before heading back home.

It was the first time the stand-up comedian was seen in public after the fateful September 4 gathering that killed fellow comedians Fuquan Johnson, 42 and Enrico Colangeli, 48, along with friend Natalie Williamson, 33, at a home near Venice Beach.

The group was allegedly using cocaine that may have been laced with fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid and painkiller 80 to 100 times stronger than morphine.

Only Quigley could be saved by first responders when they found her unresponsive at her home in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Venice the next morning, near the barbershop she visited Tuesday. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The day after the incident, Quigley’s mother Fran Wyles wrote on Facebook that her daughter was recovering slowly, but wasn’t ‘lucid for more than a moment at a time.’

She spent a week in the hospital and took to Twitter to update fans on her recovery on September 12th, saying: ‘I am better every day. Im sore.’

She added that she was watching the Los Angeles Rams’ kickoff game, and wished she was attending the game at SoFi stadium.

‘I wish i was at SoFi!!! I was going to break from social, but honestly I’m in a great mood today. I’m so excited about the kickoff game & I’ve decided that life must go on. No use in not living when I am lucky enough to be alive!!’

She also tweeted a raunchy picture of herself topless while holding a football, to show her support for the three-time NFL champions owned by Stan Kroenke.

The day before, she posted a message saying she was ‘shocked & devastated’ by the loss of her three friends.

‘I feel overwhelmed by the outpouring of kind messages and am incredibly grateful to be surrounded by a strong community of friends, family, colleagues, and fans who have offered their support during this time; and to the team of paramedics, nurses, and doctors who saved my life,’ she wrote on September 11.

‘Words cannot describe the pain I am feeling,’ she added, paying tribute to the three victims.

‘Fu was a generous, loving soul. He was hilarious, supportive, and incredibly authentic with the most infectious spirit,’ she said of Johnson, a known comedian in the LA circuit who was known to be close friends with Quigley.

‘Rico was always filled with enthusiasm,’ she said about Colangeli, another local comedian.

She added that her friend Williamson ‘was so kind and endearing.’

‘They each made an indelible mark on my life and the lives of their loved ones. I will miss them.’

Quigley, who hosts a podcast called #datefails with Kate Quigley, avoided discussing the particulars of the September 4 party or her overdose, adding: ‘There are so many more things i want to say, but I’m not ready. When I am, I will.’

Quigley revealed she takes daily small doses of magic mushrooms in a podcast interview just three days before she overdosed on fentanyl-laced cocaine and three of her friends died from the drug on September 4.

Quigley opened up about her drug-taking, partying and even shoplifting during the pandemic in a podcast interview with comedian Joey Diaz on September 1.

In video for Uncle Joey’s Joint, Quigley and Diaz discussed the alcohol and drug addictions common among comedians and opened up about their grief over the recent death of comedian friend and addict Erik Myers, who was run over by a truck in February.

While discussing drugs, Quigley revealed that she takes small amounts of magic mushrooms every day, a practice called ‘microdosing’.

‘I did start microdosing mushrooms during this whole period. Holy s*** that has helped me so much with everything, anxiety, depression, everything,’ she told Diaz.

‘I get so much less stressed out than I used to. It really makes me happier. And it’s just the babiest little bite. I don’t feel high but I’m happier.

‘I’ve had the capsules but I just break a little piece off and eat it once or twice a day. It’s so small, that’s it.’

The comedian and former model mentioned wilder behavior by her friends – who she said were more worried about the contents of the COVID-19 vaccine than the cleanliness of their street drugs.

Quigley said many of her Los Angeles friends are ‘terrified of the vaccine’ but ‘will do blow off the back of a toilet seat in a dirty bar.’

In the interview just days before her fentanyl overdose, Diaz discussed dirty cuts of cocaine, with Quigley agreeing that she too had ‘smelled’ bad odors in the drugs she snorted.

She added that the solitude and lack of parties during the pandemic last year ‘really turned me off’ cocaine.

Quigley said the nationwide shutdown for months in 2020 meant she had no gigs and was strapped for cash, admitting that she even resorted to stealing ice cream and popcorn from CVS.

‘I was stealing ice cream. I was stealing food from CVS,’ she said.

‘I mean you have a mask, a hat, sunglasses. I mean really you could rob anywhere. I didn’t rob anywhere but, just ice cream I took. And popcorn, a little popcorn.’

Meanwhile, LAPD spokesperson Officer Mike Lopez said ‘there was no indication of foul play.’ Police suspect the victims overdosed but have not identified any drugs that may have been involved.

Quigley performs regularly in theaters in Los Angeles and has appeared on shows such as ‘The Office’ and ‘Star Trek: Hidden Frontier’.

Meanwhile, the friends and family of Quigley’s three friends who tragically died of an overdose are mourning the three lives cut short by the fatal drugs.

Colangeli’s cousin, Maria Spencer, spoke with The Sun to share the ‘true heartbreak’ of his death.

‘Enrico (Ricky) was incredibly loved by his entire family, and we’ll miss him more than words can describe,’ she said. Spencer remembered her cousin as ‘not only a smart, talented comedian’ but ‘a highly skilled carpenter who worked for his family’s construction company.’

‘Losing Ricky is a true heartbreak and is a devastating loss for his siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins who have many fond memories of family Sunday dinners, amazing Christmas Eve meals, and other family celebrations that can only be remembered as epic,’ she added speaking on behalf of Colangeli’s family.

‘We loved Ricky dearly and his death is leaving a hole in our hearts that is somewhat comforted by knowing he is now at peace in the arms of his loving parents, Lynda and Rico, who we lost in 2019.’

Quigley, 39, has appeared on shows such as ‘The Office’ and ‘Star Trek: Hidden Frontier.’

She dated Hootie & The Blowfish lead singer Darius Rucker, 55, for much of 2020.
