‘Shut up’: Sunrise host David Koch SNAPS at Natalie Barr after she teased him about Port Adelaide’s loss in the AFL preliminary final

David Koch was left unimpressed on Monday when his Sunrise colleagues teased him about Port Adelaide’s crushing loss in the AFL preliminary final.

The 65-year-old host, who is on annual leave, called into the Seven breakfast show after Power star Ollie Wines won the Brownlow Medal on Sunday night.

Co-anchor Natalie Barr and fill-in host Matt Doran had just finished interviewing Wines, 26, leaving Koch in a celebratory mood.

But Barr, 53, couldn’t help pointing out that Wines’ Brownlow Medal win had been a ‘much better way to end the season than the way they did’.

‘Just shut up, Nat! Shut up, Nat,’ snapped Kochie, who is the Chairman of Port Adelaide and a lifelong fan of the footy club.

After leaving Koch in a bad mood, Doran, 37, jokingly warned Barr that her co-anchor would ‘have a little word’ with her later on.

Clearly determined to join in on the gentle ribbing, Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac joked that Koch had taken the week off work to prepare for Port Adelaide’s appearance in the AFL grand final – which never eventuated.

‘At least we were in the finals,’ Koch told him, prompting Sam Mac, 41, to quip: ‘Well, you’re not anymore!’

Port Adelaide was thrashed by the Western Bulldogs during the AFL preliminary final earlier this month, losing by 71 points.

The Bulldogs came out on top with a 116 win, to Port Adelaide’s 45 loss.

But the team finally had something to celebrate after Wines became the first Port Adelaide player to win the prestigious Brownlow Medal.

An excited Koch congratulated Wines on his award, and confidently declared that Port Adelaide would redeem themselves at next year’s grand final.
