The condition causes cells in the light-sensitive retina, located at the back of the eye, to degenerate slowly and progressively.
‘It’s become worse. It gradually started to deteriorate, especially after I had the children. I went back to the ophthalmologist and realised how much vision I actually lost,’ she told The Morning Show in 2016.
‘I go every year for my check-ups and last year they said it wasn’t too bad, it’s still stable – I’m still at 10-degrees of central vision.’
However, in 2020, she told Woman’s Day that she had regained some of her sight thanks to an advancement in recent medicine.
In 2018, Reggie revealed she had been hit with another serious health setback.
On the brink of tears, Reggie told Woman’s Day in January 2018, she was informed by doctors that she has a serious heart condition.
‘They told me I have a hole in my heart. I was literally heartbroken. But it makes sense now, why I’m always so tired and unwell, and what caused my stroke last year,’ an emotional Reggie revealed to the magazine at the time.
Reggie also previously suffered a stroke and battled depression.
