A mother-of-four has shared her simple three-ingredient recipe for mini cheesy hotdogs – and it only costs 40 cents each to make.

Cheree Lawrence, from Brisbane, made the snacks using 12 ‘bake-at-home’ white dinner rolls, which cost $3.50 from supermarkets, cheese and cocktail frankfurts.

‘I’m calling it now! This has to be one of the easiest air fryer recipes ever. Not only is it super easy, but all the ingredients come in at under $5 to make,’ the founder of Oh So Busy Mum wrote in her Facebook group.

She pointed out the recipe still works for those who don’t own an air fryer.

‘They can be cooked in the oven for the same temperature and time as the air fryer instructions,’ she explained.

To make the snacks, simply cut a line down the middle of each roll, and placed a cocktail Frankfurt inside, topped with grated cheese.

Bake the treats in the air fryer or oven at 180 degrees Celsius for around five minutes or until the cheese has melted.

Grated cheese

Her post was met with more than 1,200 comments, with dozens of mothers saying it’s the favourite go-to snack to make for their kids.

‘Yes we love these. I put them in my daughter’s lunchbox for school,’ one mum wrote, while another added: ‘One of my favourite quick dinners for the kids.’

Others described it as ‘heaven’ and ‘so much cheaper to make’ than buying them pre-made at a bakery or supermarket.

Meanwhile, one mother said she tried making the snacks but the rolls ‘always splits’, to which Cheree suggested: ‘You can cook the rolls for two minutes first and it will help them not split all the way down.’
