Alisha Todd is a musician, songwriter and producer who describes herself on her YouTube Channel as ‘a lover of nature, hiking, calmness, fantasy, equality, romance, hope and the beautiful and sometimes painful existence of humans’

Todd grew up in the small town of Gympie in Queensland, where she fell in love with country and pop music.

‘I always had a passion for singing and then my mum purchased a guitar for me when I was a teenager,’ she recently told Southern Cross University.

‘Growing up in Gympie, the state school was really musically focused. There was a country music program and the teachers would help with all sorts of things like put us in bands and take us to the Gympie Muster.’

Todd went on to study music full-time and has performed at festivals across Australia, including the Mullum Festival, Bello Winter Festival, Caloundra Music Festival and Falls Festival

Todd took a four-year hiatus from the Australian music scene to travel around Europe by herself, helping inspire her music today.

Since returning to Australia, she has been featured on Triple J and had her music compared to top artists, including ‘Florence and the Machine’ and Maggie Rogers.

She is also one half of indie pop duo Genie Boy, which she formed with partner Scott French and recently released a 6-track EP.

She lists British rock band Coldplay as one of her biggest inspirations after recently watching a documentary.

‘ The elevation I got when I watched them perform at their stadium tours and the integrity within the band was genuinely inspiring.

‘That’s what I’d love to create, a team and family around me that get to go on a journey together to amazing venues and shows and build an empire.’
