Nadine Coyle has revealed she believes she has received signs from her late Girls Aloud bandmate Sarah Harding, including when she was at home and ‘something flew off the shelf’.

The singer, 36, told how the last few weeks have been ‘awful’ since Sarah passed away in September aged 39 from breast cancer.

Speaking on The Ryan Tubridy Show on RTE Radio 1, Nadine told how she recently filmed Irish musical talent show Last Singer Standing where she thinks Sarah sent her signs of her presence.

She said: ‘I was so close to her in life. There’s definitely been things, she’s made her presence known a few times. As I was shooting the show, it was right in the middle of it all and people were being so kind.

‘There was a couple of days when the headphones just flew across the table and it happened three days in a row and the makeup girls were saying, “that has to be Sarah.”

‘One night I was taking about me in my house and something flew off the shelf. I was like, “Is this Sarah?” I’m still thinking she’s going to phone.’

Nadine told how the filming schedule for the show was already set when she heard the news of Sarah’s passing.

She said: ‘The show was scheduled, everything was booked. There was no way they could take a break for me to grieve. It was straight back into work. Everyone was so kind and patient with me, it was great. ‘

The hitmaker also said it has been a ‘traumatic year’ since she first learned of Sarah’s diagnosis.

She said: ‘It feels like it’s been a really traumatic year and a half, almost two years at this point. It’s a cruel disease and I know many people suffer with it. We definitely lost a great one there.’

Nadine also spoke of how close the pair were and said they remained in touch long after Girls Aloud went their separate ways.

She said: ‘She was unbelievable. Me and Sarah have been close and always remained close. We were a great support for each other in the band and for years after.’

Sarah, who found fame with the rest of Girls Aloud on reality singing show Pop Stars: The Rivals, revealed last year she had been diagnosed with cancer.

A message from Sarah’s mother Marie was posted to the star’s Instagram account to announce her death reading: ‘It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away.

‘Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day.

‘She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved.

‘I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead. Marie x’.
